The mission

March to a Million™

One mission. One million families. Billions protected.

In his own words

“I’m on a mission to guide one million families to clarity — and save a collective two billion dollars from probate, taxes, and long-term care.”

Gregory S. DuPont, JD, CFP

What the mission is against

The Four Illusions.

Four beliefs that are comfortable, widely held, and cost families more than any market ever has.

  1. 01

    The Illusion of Time

That there will be a better moment to do this. Almost every planning window that matters closes on a schedule rather than on notice: the low-bracket years before required withdrawals, the years when long-term care cover is still underwritable, the years while both spouses can still sign.

  2. 02

    The Cost of Silence

That not discussing it protects anyone. What it actually does is leave the family to reconstruct your intentions from paperwork, in the worst week of their lives, usually while disagreeing.

  3. 03

    The Illusion of Alignment

That your advisors are coordinated because they are all competent. Four professionals who have never spoken are not a team, and the gaps between them are where money leaves.

  4. 04

    The Hidden Tax Burden

That the balance on the statement is yours. Some proportion of every tax-deferred account belongs to the IRS, at a rate nobody has yet fixed, in a year you may not choose.

The arithmetic

One firm cannot reach a million families.

A five-person office in Dublin, Ohio will not personally advise a million households, and pretending otherwise would make the number a slogan. So the mission has a second half, and it is the reason the fifth business exists.

The Wealth Solutions Network trains other attorneys and advisors to practice this way: coordinated rather than siloed, with the legal and financial sides in the same conversation. Training people who could compete with you is a strange thing to build if the coordinated model is a marketing position rather than a belief.

It is also why the first conversation here is free, why the fee model is published rather than quoted on request, and why the advisor scorecard tells you plainly when your current advisor is fine. A mission counted in conversations has to be willing to have ones that do not convert.

Plain answers

What people ask about the mission.

  • What is March to a Million?

It is Gregory S. DuPont’s stated mission: to guide one million families to clarity by 2030 and to protect a collective two billion dollars from probate, taxes and long-term care. It is also a book and a podcast of the same name. The figures are a goal the firm has set itself publicly, not a claim about results already achieved.

  • Is this a charity or a campaign?

Neither exactly. It is the reason the firm gives for how it operates (free first conversations, published fee model, education before offer) and for the fifth business, The Wealth Solutions Network, which trains other attorneys to practice this way. One firm cannot reach a million families; that is the arithmetic behind training competitors.

  • How would I be counted?

By having had the conversation. A Clarity Map Session costs nothing and carries no obligation, and you leave with the written picture whether or not you ever come back. That is the unit the mission is measured in.

One of a million

The mission is measured in conversations, not in clients.
