Disclosures

The things a firm should say plainly.

How Advocate Wealth Solutions is paid, which of the related firms you are actually dealing with, and where to check the people involved without asking us.

General disclosure

The information in this material is not intended as tax or legal advice. Please consult legal or tax professionals for specific information regarding your individual situation. The opinions expressed and material provided are for general information, and should not be considered a solicitation for the purchase or sale of any security.

Nothing on this website is personalised investment, tax or legal advice. It cannot be: giving advice requires knowing your situation, and a website does not. Every page that describes a strategy describes it in general terms, and the point of the Clarity Map Session is precisely to replace the general with the specific.

How the firm is compensated

Advocate Wealth Solutions is a fee-based financial planning firm. That word is precise and it is not the same as fee-only: a fee-based firm charges planning and advisory fees and may receive commissions on certain products, typically insurance.

The firm’s own statement of this, from its process page, is that it is “an independent agency, meaning our process allows us to serve you free from institutional or product bias” and that it works with clients “as a fiduciary and an advocate.”

In practice: if a recommendation would pay a commission, you are told before you decide rather than after. The Clarity Map Session carries no fee and no obligation. The PILOT Process carries a fee, quoted before any work begins.

The related firms, and which is which

Gregory S. DuPont founded five firms, and they are genuinely separate entities rather than departments. Which one you are dealing with matters, because their obligations to you differ.

  • Advocate Wealth Solutions: this firm. Financial planning, investment and tax-strategy work.
  • DuPont Law Group: the law firm. Legal advice and document drafting, subject to attorney regulation and to attorney–client privilege. Engaging Advocate Wealth Solutions does not create an attorney–client relationship; engaging the law firm does.
  • Ohio Tax Advocates: tax planning and preparation.
  • Blue Ocean Insurance: an independent insurance agency. Insurance products may pay commission.
  • The Wealth Solutions Network: training and support for other attorneys and advisors. Not a client-facing service.

Nothing on this website should be read as legal advice from DuPont Law Group, and no communication through this website creates an attorney–client relationship.

Testimonials

Testimonials shown are from current clients and were provided without compensation. They may not be representative of the experience of other clients and are not a guarantee of future performance or success.

The three testimonials on this site were already published on the firm’s previous website. They are quoted verbatim and are not edited for favorability.

Verify any of this independently

You should not have to take a website’s word for who it belongs to. The public record covering the financial side is linked in the footer of every page here:

  • SEC adviser record: the investment-adviser public disclosure record for Gregory S. DuPont.

Bar standing is a separate register: the Supreme Court of Ohio maintains a public attorney directory, and any Ohio attorney can be looked up there by name.

Links and third-party sites

This site links to material the firm does not control: the client portal, webinar registration, podcast hosts, and the separate websites for the firm’s books. Those are governed by their own terms, and a link is not an endorsement of anything else you find there.

Where a page here quotes a third-party publication, the publication is named and linked so the quote can be checked in context.

Pending compliance review

This page states what is verifiable and what this website demonstrably does. The following require the firm’s compliance reviewer before launch, and are deliberately not drafted here:

  • Re-approval of all wording on this page. The previous site’s disclosures were partly FMG Suite boilerplate and that wording has been removed, so the remaining language needs the firm’s own approval rather than inheriting the old one.
  • Links to Form ADV Part 2A and Form CRS, and the firm’s registration status and the jurisdictions it is registered in. None of these have been supplied for the build.
  • The SEC marketing-rule language required alongside client testimonials, and confirmation that the existing compliance sign-off on those three testimonials carries to this build.
  • The firm’s legal entity name and any d/b/a relationships. The current site’s footer refers to the firm as formerly DuPont Wealth Solutions, LLC, and which name is the registered one should be stated.
  • Whether Blue Ocean Insurance’s commission arrangements need a more specific disclosure than the general statement above.
